statement
I often get my inspiration from both my dreams and the world around us. Since moving to New York, many rabbits have appeared in my dreams. They show up often in various scenarios, many colors, and from numerous perspectives.
One day, I realized that these rabbits represent my feelings towards our society and my life. The rabbits seem to always be smiling and remind me of angels I have seen before. Though they look happy and positive at first, they have a particular mischievousness and sneaky nature to them on closer observation.
In 2010, I met my cat(adopted a cat) and ever since then I will often see us in my dreams with me donning the persona of a rabbit. My way of thinking about nature and life has changed after meeting her. She holds an important place in my heart and taught me the preciousness of life. I am always amazed at the images the rabbits leave me when I wake up from my dreams. My artwork represent these scenes from my dreams.
I combine traditional oil painting with mixed media. Traditional Japanese art scrolls(e-maki) also inspire my work. I use various mediums such as canvas, wood boards, etc to effectively convey the soul and spirit of the work. I always aim to make my work relatable to a wide range of people. The rabbits in my work bring distinct personalities to the painting and give it life.
